Karen VERLINDEN
Verlinden infuses her work with a deep appreciation for craftsmanship, using light and shadow to celebrate the beauty of simplicity. Drawing from her family’s printing background, she skilfully works with materials and embraces imperfections to reveal the true character of her art.Her shell - like sculptures, resembling raw torsos sculpted in clay, are supported by a structure that ensures the clay doesn’t collapse before firing. As the clay hardens, the supporting structure gradually evaporates, leaving behind only the sculpture.
